The Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP — formerly known as the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers or ACHMM) is a professional membership organization for Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (CHMMs) and other parties with interest in the environmental field. The AHMP was established in 1985 and its mission is to promote the environmental, health and safety profession and offer professional development and networking opportunities to the membership.
The AHMP vision is to be the recognized leader and resource for those practicing Environmental, Health and Safety Management.
Comprised of more than 66 Chapters and more than 6,000 members, the AHMP is represented in 38 States plus the District of Columbia and Guam. The AHMP headquarters are located in Rockville, Maryland, just outside Washington D.C.
The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) certifies all CHMMs. While the AHMP and IHMM are separate organizations with different roles and responsibilities, they work together they make the CHMM Program the premier certification in the environmental services industry. If you become certified and choose to join the AHMP, the organization assists you in maintaining your certification. Membership services and activities are available at both the National and Chapter levels. Nationally, the AHMP organization consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Immediate Past President, and six Directors. National Committees composed of members-at-large make recommendations to the AHMP cademy Officers and Board of Directors. There are more than a dozen committees and task forces, focusing on the general areas of Administration, Outreach, and Education.
